Abdullahi Hassan is the Somalia Researcher at Amnesty International, based in Nairobi. In this interview, he talks about the challenges of monitoring and documenting human rights violations in crisis situations, especially where access to the conflict zone is limited. He also talks about the opportunities that exist for human rights researchers when conducting their work, including the availability of open source information to identify incidents, and to verify and corroborate witness testimony.
